Etymology

Occupied in the early nineties, Meritonia gained its independence in the mid 2000's. Mostly because travel to Varathron was proving more logistically challenging by the Takhisian imperial navy. With growing resistance and eventually counter battles against, the commonwealth fought a long war of freedom, eventually forcing the Takhisian's to withdraw under pressure from a nation that serves interests of both.

The standard way to refer to a citizen of The Commonwealth is 'Meritonians'
