The National Council is a four voting-member, six non-voting member council that acts as the Head of Government of the Federation of the Alezian Union. The establishment of the national council was enacted as part of the Reunification Treaty of 2021 between the government of North Alezia and the government of South Alezia before reunification as an agreed method to maintain the strength of reunification through ensuring that no region were unrepresented in the daily activities of the Alezian Union.
The National Council was inspired by the previous (and still ongoing albeit in a reduced regional state) directorial government of the Federation of North Alezia which was the State Council existing from its' independence in 1958.
Powers, Duties, and Responsibilities
The National Council is responsible for:
- Conducting foreign policy of the Federation of the Alezian Union;
- Appoint ambassadors and international representatives;
- Represent the Federation of the Alezian Union at the international stage, such as organizations in which the country is in or is in the process of accessing into;
- Negotiating and denouncing international issues relating to the Federation of the Alezian Union;
- Ratifying treaties representing the Federation of the Alezian Union under the consent of the National Parliament;
