The Sodorhvtisi'i Defence Forces (FDS) is the military organisation responsible for the defence of the Commonwealth of Sodor and its national interests. It has three branches: the Sodorhvtisi'i Naval Forces (FNS), Sodorhvtisi'i Land Forces (FAS), Sodorhvtisi'i Rocket Forces (FRS) and the Sodorhvtisi'i Air and Air Defence Forces (SFDAA). The FDS has an active strength of just over x personnel, with 147,594 in the FNS, x in the FAS, x in the FRS and x in the SFDAA.

During the final decades of the 18th century, the Sodorhvtisi'i Government established the armed services as separate organisations, with each service having an independent chain of command from the states, each of which had previously operated their own military forces. In 1876, the government made a strategic change and established the FDS to place the services under a single headquarters. Over time, this degree of integration has increased, and tri-service headquarters, logistics, and training institutions have supplanted many single-service establishments both internally and externally. The FDS has been deployed around the world in combat, peacekeeping and disaster-relief missions, along with several permanent stationings.

The FDS is technologically sophisticated but relatively small for its landmass. With the standing force of x, it is smaller per capita than most Kalranian military forces. The FDS is supported by a significant budget by worldwide standards and is well equipped and trained, with defence spending at 2.23% of GDP (as of 2023/24).
