The United Commands of Alcea (UCA or U.C.A.), commonly known as the United Commands (UC or U.C.) or Alcea, is a state entity primarily located in Alcea. It is a federal stratocracy consisting of numerous military commands, also including a series of supreme command territories. Out of the countries of Ella, it is the country with the largest land area, population and economy by far, making it unquestionably the planet's only superpower.
Much of Alcea's early history has either been forgotten or suppressed, with the only history that is supported by the state being the history subsequent to the Grand Coup of Alcea, when military leaders Blake Dixon, William Churchwell, James Cartwright and Timothy X co-ordinated the complete overthrow of their former nation. Following its victory, the United Commands became more insular, becoming a pariah state in the international community for many years. This was followed by a campaign of conquests across Alcea, leading to the formation of further military commands and the consolidation of UCA control over their territories. By the mid-23rd Century, the Core Territories were consolidated, and the state began to be regarded as Ella's sole superpower. In 2251, in the aftermath of the Rigevo incident, the United Commands began its ongoing Cold Wars with many other remaining nations of the world. These conflicts, often involving minor skirmishes, espionage and soft colonialism, have led to an overall attitude of xenophobia and suspicion among both the people and the state.
The U.C.'s government is integrated with the military, and has three co-operative and interconnected branches: legislative, executive and judiciary. It has a bicameral legislature, consisting of the United Commands Council, an upper house comprising the commanders of each military command; and the Legislative Assembly, a lower house with the primary purpose of writing laws at the discretion and dictation of the executive and the Council. While the government is federal, many supreme command territories are carved out of the existing military commands for better state-wide coordination, and individual military commands are expected to act autonomously in service of the United Commands as a whole.
The United Commands is undisputedly the world's most developed country, with the largest nominal GDP, and roughly 45% of the world's economy. It possesses the largest wealth of any country. The United Commands ranks highly in productivity, innovation and education. It possesses a great deal of hard power, and while it does not export much of its art and culture overseas, its state funded cultural programs are among the best-funded examples of art in the world. The United Commands is the founding member of the Dominion Treaty Organisation, a military alliance which serves as a collaboration of U.C.-aligned states across Ella.

The United Commands is a stratocracy, and as such the military is the most prominent organ of political and civil power within the state. The United Commands possesses a unique relationship between military and civillian life, with a constitution governing relations between the state and society, and a martial-political religion which comprises the only supported religious movement within the state. The head of the military is also the head of the state, with delegation of tasks to lower officers being common, but with all control of state and society ultimately going through the leader. National government programs, as well as all commandate service branches are operated from "Alpha", the primary supreme command territory of the state. Alpha also contains the command infrastructure for the Alcean Military Commands.
