Government and Politics
Since July 18, 1964 Ba'ath (formerly Iraq, Cyria and Kudayt) is governed by a sole-legal party, the Arab Socialist Ba'ath Party, the one that the country is named after. The Executive branch is dualist, led by the Prime Minister and the President simultaneously. The Ba'ath Party chairman position is posthumous wielded by Saddam Hussein, who led the country until his death in 2003.
