History
Early Days (1923-1936)
The Labour Party was founded in 1923 by a group of former Liberal politicians who decided to reform the Left of the Tomikalian voting populace. The reformation of the Liberal Party was a successfully executed decision as in the following election, the Labour Party's selected Candidate, Franklin Tortoi was elected as Prime Minister of Tomikals. He led the nation through years of economic stability, until 1929 when the Great Depression struck. Tomikalians were upset with Tortoi's handling of the depression and he was not able to secure re-election in 1936.
Age of Prosperity (1936-1973)
After Tortoi lost the 1936 election, The Party spent the next 10 years in the position of either 2nd or 3rd place in all elections over the 10 years period. This ended in 1946 when James Johnson Jr. was elected as Prime Minister. He served as Prime Minister until the 1950 Election, where he did not seek re-election. He led the country through a period of relative peace and stability not ruffling many feathers. To replace Johnson, Kathy McDougall ran for the Labour Party in 1950, where she was able to beat her political opponents. She led the country to strengthened ties with international partners. However, she was unable to secure re-election in the 1958 Election. Her successor as leader of the Labour Party was Paul Mongol, who led the party through a period of right wing leadership until he was finally elected in 1971. He decides to step down in 1973, Joseph Millardson leads the country for 6 more years through a period of stability. He is ousted in 1979 as the populace saw him as frightened and backwards-minded.
Middle Years (1979-2021)
After Millardson lost the 1979 Election the party was unable to form government for any significant period of time. They enjoyed the position of being either the position of being either the 2nd or 3rd largest political party in Tomikals.
Recent Years (2021-2024)
In 2021 Harriet Franklin was elected Prime Minister of Tomikals, she is the first popular Labour Prime Minister since the leadership of Joseph Millardson in 1979. Recently in February, 2024 Franklin lost the premiership to Anais Froissaieng
After losing the 2024 Election, the party met with representatives of the Action Party and decided to call a party re-organization resulting in the dissolution of the Labour Party.
