Veks are species of sentient humanoids native to the planet Venrolla and found throughout the galaxy. Gaunt with white skin and sunken eyes, their heads are defined by web-like protruding veins. Their arms end in long, pentadactyl hands with an opposable thumb and sharp nails. Being carnivores, they have sharp, jagged teeth. They have hypersensitive hearing, which prompts many of them to wear special coverings to protect their fragile ears. Their life-span is measured in centuries.
Although they often appear fearsome to outsiders, most of the species is extremely peaceful and amiable. Vek culture is renowned for elegance and a reverance for wealth, which can be seen in elaborate architecture, cuisine, and shipbuilding. The Vek build their cities on cliffsides and mountaintops, though some remote settlements are founded at the base of river valleys.
