Citizens for a Democratic Society (CDS) is a left-wing and progressive political party in the United States. Formed in 1960 as the Students for a Democratic Society, the group adopted its current name and entered electoral politics in 1966. The party focuses on social justice and identity politics, and is the most prominent American party of the New Left. It is currently a member of the Democratic-led Alliance for Democracy.
