Rail

A high-speed EMU passing over a viaduct in the Uiortel Special Economic Zone border with Cordo Fa, the train is a North Bardonian NBSR HST2010 capable of speeds of up to 300 kmph (186 mph).

North Bardonia rail network, which spans 11,675 kilometers (7255 miles) of passenger and cargo track as of 2022, is a hodgepodge of private transport lines and government owned rail lines operated on hundreds of kilometers of track. The four largest rail operators in North Bardonia are the state-owned North Bardonia State Rails (NBSR), the public-private mix owned Penitusian Cargo Rail Bardonia (PCRB), the Carthiada Metropolitan Rail Union, a state-owned company entierlly operated by Carthiada making use of PPP's for track development, and High-Speed Lines Bardonia, known as Beeline, a Public-private partnership. Beeline and NBSR operate North Bardonias high speed network (with all trains average speed being 230 kmph (143 mph), which totals at 7 lines (4 operated by NBSR, 3 by Beeline with 3 more lines planned by Beeline for 2026). More recent high-speed lines include the Uiortel-Cordo Fa Express, which runs at 270 kmph (168 mph), the fastest in North Bardonia which opened in January of 2024.

Under recent legislation, the Rail Development Act of 2019, North Bardonia has deregulated private rail lines and have actively encouraged cities to build intercity connections and metropolitan connections via tax breaks and government funding. In 2020 Kalidara, Couthal, Krondor and Clarafort announced the construction and renovation of major train stations and rail lines running between them with the goal of finishing a High-Speed Rail line (in partnership with Beeline between the three cities by February of 2025. This rail line should reduce housing prices in Krondor and Kalidara making the west oast cheaper to live on and wealthier over time. Alongside above ground rail North Bardonia has large amounts of light rail and metro line services in major cities with Carthiada being one of the largest by far in the region with XX lines and XXXX kilometers (XXXX miles) of track.

Light Rail & Trams

Throughout North Bardonian Tramways and Lightrail interlink inside of major cities such as Carthiada, Cordo Fa, Uiortel & Kalidara. A more recent invention Light rail & Trams came to North Bardonian thanks to Hansa in the 1880s just prior to independence with installation in Lords Fountain, Symons Town & Cordo Fa. In the aftermath of Independence Carthiada & Krondor gained tramlines and by 1915 all major cities had tramlines and many like Carthiada with growing suburbs added tramlines separated from pedestrians to form the first Light Rail lines in 1918. Under the 1919 Urban Transportation Development Act most cities tramlines turned away from horses and towards electricity and by 1923 and the out brake of the Great War nearly 90% of all trams were electrified (with the notable exception of Symons Town which wouldn't be fully electrified until 1936). In the Great War itself many cites switched off horses which were considered by the War Department to be an important resource to the war effort and which the Royal Government imposed a tax on for any horse used in the civilian sector.

In the Aftermath of the North Bardonian Civil War and the Great War the Sanatation Government turned to private investors to develop and reconstruct major cities and major tram networks destroyed in the destructive civil war. Private contractors did become a key part to North Bardonian tram and light rail systems rebound in the 1940s as they were key to financing and construction as a part of a Public–private partnership. This partnership was most evidently seen in Carthiada which greatly benefited, and which led to the reconstruction of much of the system and the expansion with both the Coastal Line and Airport Line Light Rail systems coming about because of the Light Rail Expansion.

The Carthiada Ligh Rail and Tram network is an expansive project that links towards the Cities Metro system. The link between the three systems is entirely operated by the Carthiada Roads and Transport Authority (CRTA). The CRTA itself is divided into several different regional grouping with different jurisdiction (see Carthiada Municipalities). In Carthiada however there is a large number of Light Rail networks interlinking the suburbs of Carthiada with downtown. Krondor, Uiortel and other major cities also have Light Rail networks, however they are all not on the scale of that in Carthiada, with Carthiada's network spanning XXX Kilometers of Track (XXX Miles). Other cities however do have a similarly large Tram Network with both Cordo Fa and Krondor exceeding Carthiada in kilometers of track.

Air

There are a total of 345 designated Airports in North Bardonia, over half (198) are rural airports operated by farmers and their crop-dusters, 110 are regional airports with no international flights and the remaining 37 are international airports with regular scheduled international flights. The two largest airports in North Bardonia are Carthiada International Airport (CRT) and Kharibad-Halamanat International Airport (KHT), both taking well over 20 million passengers a year. CRT is located in the vicinity of downtown Carthiada along the River Carthia and is the oldest, busiest and largest airport in North Bardonia with flights going to nearly every major city in Barica and Amnis and with daily intercontinental flights to Borealia, Forsia and Falakia. North Bardonia Airways, the national carrier operates a full terminal and alongside Libertas Air take up 60% of daily flights in and out of the airport.

Road

Tollway & Tollroads

The invention of the "Tollway" is something quite seminomas when thoughts of North Bardonias Highway come to mind; unlike the state-run highways, sometimes underdeveloped and undermaintained, these private Tollways have contrastingly been seen as developed, maintained and neat in the structure. These private roads originated from Hansa in the 1880s as private roads privately maintained by private individuals for horses. With the invention of the car many North Bardonias took advantage of the boom and lack of public roads to construct these Tollroads. Several of these roads were constructed in the 1910's between Carthiada and her suburbs before being destroyed (during the Civil War) and absorbed into the Carthiada Roads and Transport Authority (CRTA) in 1934.The beginning of North Bardonias Highway Age in the 1940's as many Highway projects started by the North Bardonian Highway Administration (NBHA) the private sector would begin the research into the feasibility of the possibility of a large-scale private Tollway system. The first system opened to the public in 1947, the project was the Carthiada-Krondor Tollway (CKT) and was owned and operated by the Carthiada-Krondor Tollway Association (CKTA). CKTA was established in 1940 by several parties interested in the development of a Tollway including a few Government Offices such as: Greyhound Bus Company, NBHA (who also wanted to see the feasibility of a Highway system), the United Municipal Investment Fund (UMIF), and the North Bardonia Road & Rail Shipping Group (NBRRSG). The Tollway charged 50 pence (Half a Krown) for entry into the highway upon its inception and now in 2024 (as according to the CKTA) the toll fee is now 2.50 Krowns.

As of the modern day[1] North Bardonia has in operation 43 Tollways and 12,000 Kilometers of Tollway in service all represented by the Tollway Alliance of North Bardonia (TANB) who operate a universal toll pass for 365 Krown per year. The TANB represent some finest strips of Tarmac in North Bardonia and are used by millions every year as an alternative towards the public highway system.

Highways

There is also approximately 142,000 kilometers of serviceable road in North Bardonia, one of the largest in the area. The Kharistan and Carthiada regions are both very dense with the number of roads & highways in their regions, which connect major city's like Kharibad, Isamir and Halamanat in Kharistan and the economic hub of Carthiada with major ports in Surdistan and Krondor. North Bardonian roads also handle international traffic coming from Asteristan and even traffic from Haverade, via ferries, where many tourists and trade go either way across the

straits every day. North Bardonia also handles a large number of containers taking goods north-south and east-west along major highways such as the H-1 (Cordo Fa-Carthiada via Uiortel and Kharibad ) and the H-2 (Krondor to Cel Or via Carthiada). North Bardonia also has a large number of Tollways operated by Public-private partnership which had originally allowed for the development and expansion of Noth Bardonias highway system. The new car market in North Bardonia is dominated by many foreign companies, like TBD, TBD & TBD, but North Bardonia also has its own car brands like Carthiada, United, & Krondor-West. Automobiles likes cars, busses and tracks that are powered by diesel or petrol are a large cause of North Bardonians emissions and greenhouse gasses.

The National Highway System of North Bardonia began construction in 1922 as one of the many short-lived visions of King Clemont I, however in the mid 30's and early 40's, after the H-2 and H-2 provided proof of concepts and the success of the Carthiada Krondor Tollway the Sanatation Government passed two acts, the National Highway Development Act of 1938 and the National Highway Development Act of 1943 creating two highway schemes, the NHS1 built Highways 1-3 and the NHS2 built highways 3-12 (evens denote East-West Axis and odds denote North-South Axis highways). In 1961 the passage of the Highway & Regional Roads Designation Act the National Highway System now had to maintained by the federal government and regional roads and regional highways (designated by the RH status). The speed limits on these roads however remained very different with Federal Highways have a minimum speed of 80 kmph and a max of 140 kmph and Regional Highways having a max of 120 kmph.

Intercity Service

There are several major bus companies in North Bardonia, the main one being the Greyhound. There are indeed numerous other companies driving around the North Bardonian roads as an alternative to the sometimes-unreliable rail service.

North Bardonia, as positioned in the center of the Penitusian is a major hub for international trade, North Bardonia having 11 major ports is thusly a crux of the pan Penitusian trade North Bardonia has some of the largest port facilities in the world. The largest of which in North Bardonia is located just to the east of Cordo Fa, the Port of Cordo Fa-Penitusian (CordoPen) which opened in 1911. Alongside Cargo shipping North Bardonia also has a large passenger shipping industry with the largest North Bardonian cruise company, Penitsusian-Bardonian Lines, operates out of major North Bardonian cities like Carthiada, Uiortel, Cordo Fa, and Krondor alongside minor cities like Symons Port and Kalidara. In the North of the country ferries and catamarans cruise between Vabas and the Commonwealth of Haverade connecting Haverade, and the VU by extension to Inyiza and other islands in the ______ Strait to North Bardonia. these ferries, run under several companies' names like Penitusian Ferry, take thousands of people across the straits every day and is a part of a larger trade network linking the Continental VU to North Bardonia.
