Almadis is a country in northern Scipia bordered by Tulura to the south and Bahktar to north. It sits west of the Ozeros Sea and has an estimated population of 30-million inhabitants. The country is known for being extremely fractured and disputed, with a weak ruling imperial government over dozens of feuding tribal and ethno-religious groups. The most internationally recognized government is the The Candace, legitimized by the Treaty of Aenonesos, ruled by a council of aristocratic lords under a titular Empress, known as the Marissa.
The land of Almadis is deeply ancient, with the Candance dynasty able to trace its origins as far back as 180 BCE. Beforehand, dozens of ancient empires flourished along the Tawifet/Taphet River, most notably Eyosa, which spanned along the river and at its height into northern Sosfariyya, before the rise of the Mesfid Caliphate.
The country is a hotbed to international tensions between Monarchist, Teodrosist and Communist factions, who compete for political and territorial supremacy within the wartorn country. Tulura, supporting the Yen Teodrosist and Tarsas, supporting Marissan Monarchist, are the main influential powers. It has become a flashpoint for a number of brief conflicts between Tarsas and Tulura, resulting in a long-term stalemate. Almadis is split almost evenly between two main religions, Azdarin and Marissan Traditional Christianity. Sahb Azdarinist leading Teodrosist and Traditional Yen Law factions, while the Marissan's lead the dominant Monarchist faction.
