John Zane-Grandlee, also known as Earl Zane-Grandlee, is a notable British politician, entrepreneur, and media figure. He is the founder of The NUK Times, a widely respected newspaper celebrated for its detailed analysis and bold editorial stance. Alongside his media career, Grandlee has made significant strides in British politics, currently serving as the World Assembly Delegare. He formerly served as Secretary of State for Foreign & Diplomatic Affairs, until his resigantion. He holds a seat in the House of Commons as a Member of Parliament (MP) for Guildford under the banner of the Union Party. Early Life Born Johnathan Enammuel Zane-Grandlee, John was born in 1987 in Miami, USA, during his parents honeymoon, his father a Zane, and his mother a Grandlee. For the first six years of his life, he was a citizen of Ireland, where his parents lived, before moving to NUK in 1993 and all obtained citizenship, except John’s father, who remained a citizen of Poland. John attended Cardiff & Vale during his teen years, before becoming a journalist for a small, local newspaper. Soon after, he got a master’s degree in journalism and a bachelor’s degree in teaching English. Early Adulthood Entering his twenties, the young John bought multiple stocks in major companies such as Microsoft and Ford Motors, which would later result in a huge profit. Meanwhile, John decided to publish his own newspaper, NUK Times, one of NUK’s most successful newspapers and publications. As well as this, John became well known, featuring in TV adverts for corporations, and even starred in a few movies and TV shows during the 2000s. Political Career Zane-Grandlee’s political career is marked by his advocacy for diplomatic engagement and his progressive approach to international relations. He has been instrumental in shaping foreign policy during his time in office, earning widespread recognition for his work in global diplomacy. In addition to his political and media ventures, Grandlee has received high honours for his contributions to public life. He has been awarded The Order of Cultural Merit for his role in promoting British culture through journalism, as well as The Order of Civic Excellence for his public service and leadership. Zane-Grandlee has developed strong partnerships within the government, most notably with Nadhim Zane, his third cousin and the prime minister. The two have collaborated on several key initiatives, forging a bond that has strengthened both their political influence and effectiveness. On 21st September 2024, John Zane-Grandlee was elevated to the peerage, receiving the title Baron Zane-Grandlee, further cementing his influence in British public life. In a rare and distinguished honour, he was also designated as 11th in line to the British throne, a testament to his prominence within the nation's political and social landscape. Soon after, however, John resigned from the role of Secretary of Foreign Affairs, and remained in government solely as WA Delegate. Following Labour’s landslide victory in November, John was named Deputy Prime Minister, and following Labour’s collapse, joined the Conservative Party, now the Union Party. John recently announced that he would not be serving in government next term, but whether he will be running as an MP is unclear. During the Christmas honours list, John became Earl of Huntingdon, (pushed up to 6th in the line of succession) and continues to serve NUK with determination and integrity. He is also the Vice Chancellor of James R. Grey University. Media Career John is well known in NUK and across NS for publishing the NUK Times, NUK’s first regular news service, originally published in May 2024. Later on, he joined NUK News Central, then owned by his cousin and friend Nadhim Zane, followed by the BBC in December 2024 following Zane’s departure from NNC. He later started Sky, a branch of NUK Times Group, which covers regional and IRL news and sports.
