During its organization, it was designated as a {{wp|zouave}} regiment, which are soldiers known for its unusual dress style. What made them more unusual, as well as unique is the regiment's style of the zouave uniform, which consists of red pants, orange lines and green caps. Because of this dress style, they are usually nicknamed the '''Autumn Zouaves'''.
