Alwin Edelstein is a Blaorian lawyer and politician who serves as the Prime Minister of Blaoria. He is a member of the Resterbaan Progressive Party, and he has been a Member of the Federal Council since 2 August 2006. Edelstein was elected Prime Minister in 2014 following the resignation of Didier Cassis, and has won reelection twice in 2018 and 2022. However, on July 18th 2022, the general election between Edelstein and Johannes Schnabel, a member of the pro-Drambenburg Behalten Party, became mired in delays and irregularities. After four recounts, Edelstein was eventually declared the winner on August 17th, but Schnabel opposed the results. Schnabel, who had run a campaign based on ceding Blaoria to Drambenburg, called on his supporters to deny the election results and protest the government. For weeks, massive demonstrations occupied the capital of Winterstein and 6 people were killed, along with hundreds injured in the clashes between pro-RPP and pro-Drambenburg protestors.
