Lady Charlotte Randolph, 5th Baroness Bamber, is a Frankenlischian noblewoman and colonial official. She is currently serving as Governor-General of the Dominion of Kenega and has been in this position since July 2020. Appointed to the position of Governor-General at the age of 24, she is the youngest person to have held the position, and the second-youngest Governor-General in the Frankenlischian Commonwealth. Born in 1995, Charlotte ascended to the the Bamber Barony in 2017 upon the death of the previous Baron, her father Frederick.
Early Life
Charlotte Randolph was born on Bamber Isle, the lands of her family, on 22nd July 1995. The eldest child of Lord Frederick Randolph and his wife Maisie. Frederick Randolph, the 4th Baron, was a naval officer and Lady Maisie spent to majority of her time at Court. Charlotte, therefore, was educated at Lord Chaffway's School in Richmond county as a boarder. She then attended college at Falscraf but did not stay for higher education, instead studying Combined History and Politics at the University of Central Gestoria. At university, she played association football for Conriston WFC and for the university team. Charlotte graduated in 2017 with honours and, in September of that year, her father Frederick Randolph died and she inherited the Barony.
Colonial Service
Early Career
Upon inheriting the family Barony, Charlotte entered the Diplomatic Service and was assigned to the Colonial Bureau. From 2017 to 2019 she was Chief Aide to the Deputy Secretary of the CB, Sir Desmond Allens. After this she served for 4 months as the first Under-Secretary for Colonial Sports, helping to set up this new section of the Colonial Bureau. Despite her lack of experience as a resident diplomat, she was added to the Ambassadorial Roll in November 2019 (allegedy thanks to the influence of her mother). Following the death of Sir Lyle Fitz-Byre at the end of that month, Charlotte was appointed to head the Kenega Desk. a job at which she excelled.
Charlotte remained in charge of the Kenega Desk until the Ellers Scandal of June 2020. Sir Martin Ellers, serving as 9th Governor-General of Kenega, was indicted for corruption and embezzlement. It was found that Ellers had siphoned diplomatic funds and over-received expense payments into a Kenegan bank account and fraudulently purchased Kenegan bonds. Ellers was saved from imprisonment by the influence of several important friends and relatives and agreed to give the bonds to the Imperial Treasury. In order to keep Ellers out of public view for some time, he was appointed Ambassador to Kehrahn, a generally unimportant posting which Charlotte Randolph was being considered for. After much deliberation in the upper echelons of the Diplomatic Service, Charlotte was picked to replace Sir Martin Ellers as Governor-General.
Governor-General of Kenega
On 20th July 2020, Charlotte flew out to Kenega to be sworn-in as its 10th Governor-General. For the ceremony, she was granted a temporary commission as a Major in the Imperial Kenega Rifles in order to wear its uniform. At the age of 24, she was the youngest Governor-General of Kenega. The Earl of Amin, who was sworn-in as Governor-General of Owaya at the age of 21 in 2018, is the only younger serving Governor-General. For five weeks, whilst Imperial House was being renovated, Charlotte resided temporarily in a hotel and flew back to Frankenlisch at weekends. Sir Frederick Basildon, formerly of the New Regensburg Desk, was appointed as her deputy in September 2020. Basildon served temporarily as Governor-General while Charlotte completed four months of military training between November 2020 and March 2021 in order to be commissioned as a reserve officer.
Family
The House of Randolph has held the Bamber Barony since its creation in 1792. The family has a history of naval and colonial service dating back to the First Baron, James Randolph and his wife, the privateer Anne Bolton.
