Brands are effectively the different regions that FedRail operates and manages. Brands were established in 2004 in order to give the operating regions distinct identities and introduce an illusion of choice that reflected Tarper's railway history. Branding took full effect on 2006 with the last of the rolling stock being repainted from FedRail livery. Names were changed around this time, going from simple descriptive names such as "Northern Region" or "Astra Region" to names that either paid homage to historical railways, the actual names of those historical railways, or the state that the region operated in. The previous examples "Northern Region" and "Astra Region" were renamed to "Meerland Rail" and "Federal Railways of Astra". FedRail livery can still be seen in special train services such as the Holiday Train and the Chancellery Express.

The Federal Passenger Railway Corporation of Tarper, doing business as FedRail, is a nationalized railway corporation in Tarper. It is a state-owned corporation but the government has allowed for a quarter of it to be owned by its employees.

The corporation was created as a re-nationalization of the Tarperti railroad network after it was privatized during the Second Republic. Before privatization, the railways were owned and operated by the People's Railroad Commission in the time of the Tarperti Confederation. The reason to move past privatization was a decision by the government in order to more efficiently manage the nation's reconstruction as dealing with multiple private corporations was seen as tedious.

FedRail is the sister company to the Federal Freight & Cargo Railroad Corporation of Tarper, or simply, FedGO. Both state corporations are under the jurisdiction of the Bureau for Railway Transport, which itself is under the Ministry for Transport.
