The Chancellor of Tarper is the political leader of Tarper and the head of the Federal Government. The office holder is responsible for selecting all other members of the government and chairing Cabinet meetings.

The office was created in the Platesan Empire in 1848, when Alexis Coupe became the first Chancellor. With the Unification of Tarper and establishment of the United Kingdoms of Tarper in 1901, the Confederation evolved into a nation-state and the office became known as the Chancellor of Tarper.

In the UKT, the Chancellor was only responsible to the King. This changed with the constitutional reform in 1904, when the Parliament was given the right to dismiss the Chancellor. Under the Communist Government the Chancellors were to be appointed by the Communist party, but were responsible to Parliament. The constitution was set aside during the 1991–2000 dictatorship. The Articles of Federalization made the Chancellor the most important office in the country, naming the entire country after the office, while diminishing the role of the President.

Since 2021, the office has been held by Rafaela Tanner, the current Leader of the CDSF.
