The Ministry of Interior Security (国内安全部, Guónèi ānquán bù), also known as the GAB or the Guoanbu is the department of the Songhua government tasked with counterintelligence, counterespionage, maintaining peace within the Federal Union, and suppressing political dissent. It has the status of a full-fledged ministry, as opposed to the Sensitive Affairs Bureau, which is only a bureau of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (albeit an essentially independent one). The Ministry of Interior Security commands around 100,000 soldiers, including armored units, who are not technically part of the military, but are rather categorized as Ministry staffers (the Interior Security Service). These soldiers are receive different training from normal troops in the Songhua Federal Armed Forces and often used in gendarme capacities and often serve in conjunction with the Political Security Bureau.
