Northeast Airlines Inc., commonly referred to as Northeast is one of the major airlines of Alexandria-Prussia. The company is headquartered in Port Charles, Alexandria and is one of the world’s largest low-cost carriers.
The airline was established on April 30, 1965 by Erik Von Martin as Air Northeast Co and adopted its current name Northeast Airlines Inc., in 1980 when it began operating between Alexandria and New England. The airline has over 61,590 employees as of October 2019 and operates about 5,000 departures a day during peak travel season.
History
Northeast Airlines Inc. was founded in 1965 by Erik Von Martin and James King. In 1967 four other airlines took legal action against the company for its planned strategy to undercutting their prices by flying only within Alexandria and thus being exempt from various central government regulations. The lawsuits were settled in 1980 when the company began flying between Alexandria and New England.
In 1975, Northeast began operating flights to various additional cities within Alexandria, and in 1980s it began flying to adjacent countries of New England and Prussia. Service to the Carolina, Georgia, Prussian Columbia and Wyoming started in the 1990s when the company acquired Trans Airlines.
In 2010 the company announced that they would acquire Southwind Air for AP$3.9 billion. Northeast received final approval from the Alexandria-Prussia Department of Justice on April 22, 2011. The transaction was completed on April 27, 2011. The greatest impact on Northeast, was access to Vancouver International, international service and the addition of landing slots at Kingston International and Starling City-Edward Queen International Airport.
The purchase added 30 additional destinations previously not served by Northeast including cities in the Caribbean, Vancouver, an Southwind hub and at the time, the largest AP city not served by Northeast.
In 2018 the Northeast acquires assets and routes from the bankrupt Brittany Express based out of Brest, Brittany, Indora. The company paid estimated AP$250 million for the 27 routes and 1,000 employees. As a result of the acquisition Northeast Airlines entered the European and South Africa market.
In 2019 the company reorganize into 5 groups Northeast Air (medium- and long-haul domestic routes), Northeast Cargo (freight shipment), Northeast Connection (short-haul routes), Northeast International (international medium- and long-haul routes, excluding all mainland and Caribbean Indorian routes, as they are handed by Northeast Air domestic) and Northeast Vacations (handles reservations for plane tickets and vacation packages).
On January 24, 2020 it was announced that co-founder and current Chairman and CEO James King was stepping down from the company and would be succeeded by Thomas Staggs as CEO and James son Benjamin King took over for him as Chairman.
Destinations and Bases
To date Northeast schedules to flights to 129 destinations in all of Alexandria-Prussia, the Caribbean, Europe and South Africa. Northeast does not use the standard hub and spoke system of other major airlines. The airline preferers the point-to-point system, combined with a rolling hub model in its base cities.

Passenger Experience
According to the Department of Transportation (DOT) Northeast ranks number one (lowest number of complaints) of all AP airlines for customer complaints. Northeast Airlines has consistently received the fewest ratio of complaints per passengers boarded of all major AP carriers that have been reporting statistics to the DOT since 1987.
Northeast employees are known for their colorful boarding announcements and crews that burst out in song, which is quite popular among passengers. The company is also one of the few airlines in Alexandria-Prussia that still allow 2 free checked bags when flying. The company also provides free snacks and non-alcoholic beverages. Alcoholic beverages can be purchased at additional cost to the passengers.
On transatlantic flights Northeast provides a complimentary meal evening for all passengers. Guests in the Economy Class can pay additional to grade to the premium meal if they choose. Passengers in Premier+ automatic get the premium meal choices.
Freedom Economy Interior
On May 05, 2016, Northeast introduced its newest interior, called the Freedom Interior. It includes the widest seat to fit a Boeing 737 that provides additional space for passengers and also includes a new galley. The seat is being delivered on all new A220-100, 737 MAX and 787-9 aircraft's. All current aircraft equipped with the previous design will be retrofitted with new bulkheads and jet black seat cushions.
Freedom Premier+ Interior
Premium+ class is only offered on Northeast's Boeing 787 aircraft's. The seats are configured in a 2-3-2 layout with AC power outlets, with 55 inches (140 cm) of pitch in aircraft configured with 32 or 35 Premium seats, or 46 inches (120 cm) of pitch in aircraft configured with 56 Premium+ seats.
Northeast Miles
Northeast Mile is the frequent flyer program for Northeast Airlines. Miles do not expire but accounts may be deactivated by Northeast in certain cases or if they haven't been used or activate within 2 year period.
Corporate Affairs
Headquarters
The Northeast Airlines headquarters is located on the grounds of Port Charles International Airport in the Hillsborough neighborhood of Port Charles, Alexandria.
In 2015, Northeast announced that it would build a new headquarters in Port Charles after considering moving to Starling City, Prussia. Groundbreaking began in the spring of 2016 and occupancy completed in October of 2019. The airline plans to house 5,000 new workers in the building.
It will be located on a 41-acre (17 ha) property adjacent to the airline's Flight Academy and Training Center and conference center. The new headquarters is 2 miles (3.2 km) west from the current headquarters. The airline will lease a total of 300 acres (120 ha) from Port Charles International Airport and this area will include the headquarters. Construction of the new headquarters began after the demolition of the Sabre facility, previously on the site. The new headquarters was opened in October of 2019.
