Oros (Wenja: Urus [ˈu.rus]; Izila: Óros [ˈo̞.ro̞s]), officially known as the Democratic Republic of Oros (Wenja: Dimukratiway Rispublika Urus [di.mu.ˈkra.ti.waj ris.ˈpub.li.ka ˈu.rus]; Izila: Respúblik Demokrátik Óros [re̞s.ˈpub.lik de̞.mo̞.ˈkra.tik ˈo̞.ro̞s]) is a sovereign state in Central Asia. It is bordered by Kazakhstan to the west and south, China to the southeast, and Russia to the north, and is separated from Mongolia by an approximately 40 kilometre shared border between China and Russia. The capital and largest city is Ust, which is located on the Irtysh River in the northern part of the country.

Oros's recorded history spans over 2,000 years, encompassing a variety of cultures and empires, such as the Xiongnu and the Yuezhi. Geographically isolated by its mountainous terrain, the ancient cultures of the land have been effectively preserved against the movement of various peoples on throughout the Eurasian steppes. Though long inhabited by a succession of independent tribes and clans, Oros has periodically fallen under foreign domination, and only attained sovereignty as a state after the dissolution of the Soviet Union in 1991.

The country is dominated by three major ethnic groups: the Izila, the Wenja, and the Udam. The latter two speak the Wenja language, and the former speak Izila, both Indo-European languages unique to the country and its immediate surroundings. Russian remains widely spoken as a second language and is often used in business, media, and government, a legacy of a century of Russification. In addition to its autochthonic heritage, the culture of Oros bears elements of Persian, Mongolian, Turkic, and Russian influence.
