Parliament Buildings in Ainhessel (City)

The Parliament of Ainhessel is unicameral, and is composed of 60 seats. Members are elected in full once every four years, with the last election being held in 2020. The Parliament of Ainhessel possesses the government's legislative power, along with the separate constitutional right of citizen's initiative. For a law to pass, it must be passed by the house. The Parliament elects the Council of the State.

Groups

Parties can cooperate in parliamentary groups, allowing smaller parties access to rights as part of a caucus. At least five members from the same Council are needed to form a group. Since October 2005 there have been three groups in the Parliament of Ainhessel. The latest group to form was the Green Party which split off the Labour PArty in 1986.

There are over 30 political parties in Ainhessel however few get enough votes to gain representation in parliament. The three main parties are as follows:
