Beginning in 1978, while residing in the United States for his academic studies, Thomas first met the American actress Lynda Carter. Reportedly, their first meeting was arranged exclusively by the producers of Wonder Woman who were informed by Thomas of him having taken a liking towards the star actress who was none other than Lynda Carter herself who played the titular superhero character.
