The Royal Ossorian Navy is the naval arm of the High Kingdom’s armed forces. It is managed and administered by the Admiralty, but ultimately answers to the Monarchy. The Navy is traditionally regarded as the senior service arm.

History

The Admiralty

The Lords of the Admiralty

  • The First Lord of the Admiralty is the civilian head of the Royal Ossorian Navy and holds a ministerial seat on the Privy Council. The First Lord is the most senior of the Lords of the Admiralty, and thus the highest authority within the Royal Ossorian Navy. They are responsible for the direction, control, and administration of naval policy. The current First Lord is Aerona Ní Gualraic.
  • The Second Lord of the Admiralty is the civilian chief responsible for the Navy's budgetary and fiscal management. The Second Lord is the second-highest ranking Lord of the Admiralty and reports to the First Lord. The current Second Lord is Macsen Ó Laoire.
  • The Third Lord of the Admiralty is the civilian chief responsible for the Navy's health and personnel. The Third Lord is the third-highest ranking Lord of the Admiralty and reports to the First Lord. The current Third Lord is Seán Ó Cualáin.

The Naval Lords

  • The First Naval Lord is the most senior active-duty officer in the Royal Ossorian Navy and holds a seat on the Chiefs of Staff Committee. The First Naval Lord reports to the First Lord of the Admiralty and is responsible for the overall strategic direction, force structure management and deployment of the Navy. The First Naval Lord chairs the Naval Board and the Strategy Board. The current First Naval Lord is Lord Admiral Kiera Ní Beirne.
  • The Second Naval Lord is the active-duty officer responsible for the Royal Ossorian Navy's operational and tactical planning. The Second Naval Lord reports to the First Naval Lord and is the head of the Bureau of Planning (BuPlan) and the Office of Naval Intelligence. The current Second Naval Lord is Admiral Niamh Ní Bhaoill.
  • The Third Naval Lord is the active-duty officer responsible for the Royal Ossorian Navy's construction and maintenance. The Third Naval Lord reports to the Second Lord of the Admiralty and the First Naval Lord and is the head of the Bureau of Ships (BuShips). The current Third Naval Lord is Admiral Liam Ó Conghaile.
  • The Fourth Naval Lord is the active-duty officer responsible for the Royal Ossorian Navy's research and development. The Fourth Naval Lord reports to the Second Lord of the Admiralty and the First Naval Lord and is the head of the Bureau of Weapons (BuWeaps). The current Fourth Naval Lord is Admiral Sorcha Ní Laoire.
  • The Fifth Naval Lord is the active-duty officer responsible for the Royal Ossorian Navy's recruitment and manpower. The Fifth Naval Lord reports to the Third Lord of the Admiralty and the First Naval Lord and is the head of the Bureau of Personnel (BuPers). The current Fifth Naval Lord is Admiral Rónán Ó Tuairisg.
  • The Sixth Naval Lord is the active-duty officer responsible for the Royal Ossorian Navy's training and education. The Sixth Naval Lord reports to the Third Lord of the Admiralty and the First Naval Lord and is the head of the Bureau of Training (BuTrain). The current Sixth Naval Lord is Admiral Nóirín Ní Scolaí.
  • The Seventh Naval Lord is the active-duty officer responsible for the Royal Ossorian Navy's health and medical treatment. The Seventh Naval Lord reports to the Third Lord of the Admiralty and the First Naval Lord and is the head of the Bureau of Medicine (BuMed). The main administrative functions of the Royal Ossorian Navy are located on Oileán Aimiréalacht (English: Admiralty Island), a decommissioned sea fort complex composed of eight individual islands situated in the roadstead of the Sínann River in the capital city of Kenlis.

Naval Bases

The Royal Ossorian Navy operates eleven naval bases (Ossorian Gaelic: Bunáit Chabhlaigh na Banríona; English: Queen's Naval Base) in the High Kingdom:

  • BCB Cléire, located near the city of Kenlis, is the largest naval base used by the Royal Ossorian Navy and is home to over 75 ships.
  • BCB Gabhrán, located near the city of Gabhrán in the Kingdom of Kenlis.
  • BCB Ruán, located near the city of Ravernet in the Kingdom of Kenlis.
  • BCB Iúraigh, located near the city of Iúraigh in the Kingdom of Ardliss.
