Currently the language is spoken by only people of high status, but it will be introduced and taught in schools starting in the 1445-1446 (Islamic calendar) School year. The Language is spoken by approximately 1.2 Million people in Burkina Faso and the USA. Salahtubya is usually the speakers 3rd or 4th language and hasn't been around long enough for people to speak it as a first or second languages (except in some cases). The language is closely related to both English and Arabic along with other Semetic languages. The Language uses an alphabet similar to that of Latin but also has a few character of Arabic origin.
