Background

The shieldbreakers was a direct response to the idea of facing enemies shielded either by magic or by large technological shields as they advanced with primitive weapons, examples on enemies like these lists goa'uld forces, marauding Gungans, Space Russian and other enemies designated as technological barbarians by federal military manuals. While the federations first time facing an enemy shielded by a shield like this was a success, despite the later loss of the entire battle formation, and federal military theorists and analysts suggest that the royal guard in it's current form would have been able to totally exterminate a goa'uld force would they not be supported by orbital weaponry. However despite this did the guard suggest that a specialised weapon would be needed as to make the guard able to easily deal with such a foe without having to resort to the so called "Bouncy shell manoeuvre" employed in the battle of the gate during the autumite war.

Accordingly was a two phase attack suggested with heavily armoured crawlers leading the front with flamethrowers enabling them to not only take more damage but also suppress enemies with their main weapon. Once passing the shield itself were the armour further equipped with fragmentation grenades that would allow them to explode right next to the enemy shocking and severely wound enemy troops just in time for allowing the more havily armed but less armoured s-tani variant to move in and eradicate the enemy troops with their heavy weaponry. A third variant was researched armed with rockets to deal with shield generators but it was later on cancelled in favour of equipping a few s-tan crawlers with a portable rocket launcher. The weapon itself was designed by the very young but growing Harald clan currently under the leadership of the growingly influential Harald Borgerssen, a dwarf commoner and former slave that managed to acquire a series of gold mines that his master had previously owned after the C-tan war. The design itself was according to the dwarf clan itself made by Harald's son Björk but this have been met with some scepticism amongst both the royal merchant guild and the military at large but the guild did however grant the rights to the machine to the Harald's clan and to Björk.

The First version was named the dragon or "Drake" version was named of the large firebreathing reptiles living in Scandera and the secondly was named after the c'tan and according to Harald's clan was the design and the main idea of small mechanised items controlled from afar inspired partially by Necron warriors and scarabs. Original attempts of making the crawler not only mechanised but also controlled by an AI was started but dropped in favour of having a simpler system that would be able to resist EMP attacks, However despite that so were research continued to create a crawler controlled by an AI.

Main armament

The S-tan version are simply armed with a simple 16x80mm Martin Tyngre kulsprute gevar that can be turned around about 45 degrees to left and right and ten degrees upwards, it is however locked in place for rotating downwards bellow it's original situation. The dragon version however is armed with a smaller flamethrower with a range of 20 meters that can be tilted in a similar manner as it's s-tan brother.

Secondary armament

While the s-tan crawler lacks any form of secondary armament so does the dragon rely on a heavy armour and several explosive fragmentation charges that with a command from their controllers will explode showering enemies hiding behind the shields with not only the pressure of the explosion itself but also with a massive shower of razorsharp fragmentation devices. While not standard so can however some s-tan crawlers be equipped with a rocket launcher to further give them the ability to target and destroy armoured support and potential shield generators.

Electronics devices

There are both an electronic and a digital wireless control system that is in turn wired to an electronic non-computerised system that drives the crawler to shield it from potential EMP strikes. In the chance of an EMP free zone however so are the crawler not only able to be remote controlled but it also have a camera to allow the driver to control it from afar much better.
