Summary:
History
Russatrovan settlers seeking a better life colonize Sibantis in 1751. It was internationally recognized as a sovereign state in 1759, after growing considerably. Sibantis had grown to fit most of the island by 1773, thanks to the efforts of the great explorer, Victor Bodrov, one of the 1st people to earn birthright citizenship. In 1788, a tribe of natives would be recognized by the Free Land. The tribe resided in the remaining territory of the island. The tribe was soon extinct thanks to the efforts of the Sibantis's large line infantry. The island was finally fully colonized in the late 1700s. The Free Land didn't experience too many wars, as other large nations. It remains in a state of peace that lasts from the early 1900s to the recent war that enslaved Sibantians to the imperious Regency of the Step Forward. As other nations become more aggressive, Sibantis itself becomes more defensive of Its waters, increasing military spending, specifically in the navy.
Somewhere around 4:00 PM, on the twenty-sixth of August, Sibantis broke the Imperius Regency's chains of oppression, proving that a true republic is the only way to go. The day is celebrated every year.
Government
The Free Land is classified as a constitutional republic. Complete with an executive branch, a legislative branch, and a judicial branch. Each branch holds the same amount of power, and cannot overpower another branch, at all.
The executive branch consists of Sibantis's elected head of state, and his/her administration. The head of state is known as the President. The President controls the executive branch and is the highest elected office one can get into. The current President of Sibantis is Scott Vence White. President White will be serving a temporary term in office until the Federal Election Commission announces the Presidential elections. It is very likely the President will run a second term. For more information on the President, and his/her duties, check the upper right-hand corner.
The Legislative Branch is run by the President Pro Tempore, and the Speaker of the House, who both work with their own individual chambers, the Senate, and the House. Detailed information can be found at the top right corner. The Legislative Branch is composed of the Congress, which is composed of the House, and the Senate. Both chambers of the Congress create and pass bills. The proposed motion (bill) is sent to the President of Sibantis for further verification. If the President votes Aye, the motion is passed and is sent to an official ministry/department to become legislated into law. If the President votes 'Nay' it is called a veto and is passed back down to the Congress. The Congress can either, throw out the bill, or conduct a vote. The vote must have at least 2/3 of both chambers, the Senate, and the House. The Congress sends the bill back to the President, who will be forced to legislate it.
The Judicial Branch is 'ruled' by the Chief Justice of Sibantis, who serves life terms. The Chief Justice is the only monarch like function of the government. The Chief Justice is chosen by Congress. The applicant must be male or female from the age of twenty-five to thirty-five. The Chief Justice will indeed serve a life term, and CANNOT back out at any time. The Judicial Branch is monitored by the Branch of Judicial Decisions, which gives the 'okay' to the Chief Justice when it comes to setting sentences to VIPs in the federal government.
Identification
The nation went through several forms of identification, which eventually led to present identification. The nations first unofficial identification was established in 1751. The island was known as The Island of Sibantis. The name was inspired by the first settler to step onto the island's sand, Siantis. Siantis was the captain of one of the fourteen ships that traveled to the island. The nations first official identification was The Fourteen Colonies of Sibantis. Which was established in 1760. The Fourteen Colonies were related to the fourteen ships that landed. The second identification was The Colonies of Sibantis. Simply a shorten version. It was established in 1763. The nations third official identification was The Free Land of Sibantis which was established in 1779, after the construction of The Ornament (The Director's Residence) and the construction of the federal government. The fourth official identification was used in 2017 when the government turned fascist in 2017. 'The Empire of Sibantis.' The fifth official identification has been used after the Empire's collapse. "The Republic of Sibantis." The sixth and most recent identification has been used after Sibantis would win more global influence. It is, "The Grand Democratic Island of Sibantis".
Military
Although Sibantis hasn't seen too many wars, it doesn't mean it can't prepare for one. The military is separated into five sections. Siantis's Navy, The Army, Air Force, Coast Guard, and the Marines. Each branch will protect, and or assault the land, sea, and air. Sibantis's military isn't too technologically advanced, and suffers from many flaws. With every conflict that happens within Anteria, Sibantis's Dept. of Conflict learns more on the strategy of other nations. The first conflict in Sibantis's history was the battle against the large native tribe of Sibantis which leaded to 14k deaths.
Language
Seeing as how Sibantis was settled by former Russatrovans, it only made sense to adopt the Russian language as our official language. With the presence of many English speakers in Anteria, English also became a official language.
Economy
Sibantis is currently worth eighteen billion USD. The money is stored digitally (of course) and used by the Department of Treasury. The current Secretary of the Treasury is Susana Burns. Sibantis's economy is growing much faster than ever, due to flourishing businesses that mostly work internationally.
