The General Directorate for Public Security (Tethian: Drejtoria e Përgjithshme e Sigurisë Publike), commonly called the Sigurimi (lit. Security), is the principal civilian intelligence, national security, and internal security agency of Austeria, responsible for foreign intelligence, counterintelligence, and directing the intelligence apparatus of the country. A highly capable and secretive organization, it is headquartered in the Zambak Park District of Kartha, with powerful semi-autonomous branches at the regional level across Austeria.

The agency was founded in 1990 under the Austerian People's Republic to replace the State Security Department, the secret police and political security agency of the Austerian Liberation Front under one-party rule. The agency assisted in the implementation of the Yndyk Agreement by overseeing the disarmament of the paramilitary forces that participated in the Austerian Counterrevolution. During the Olive Revolution, the agency refused to target reformist movements which allowed it to survive the dissolution of the People's Republic. It gained significant powers due to its role in suppressing ethnic violence in the aftermath of the Revolution and the Years of Blood.

The Sigurimi is focused on domestic security, responsible for protecting Austeria against espionage, sabotage, acts of foreign interference, politically motivated violence, ethnic violence, and terrorism. To facilitate its mission, the agency has a wide range of surveillance powers to collect human and signals intelligence on Austerian citizens. It has the authority of arrest and detention under warrant through its own component of the National Police with mandatory oversight by the regional and local police. The Directorate is also known to engage in intelligence gathering outside of the country through its affiliation with the Office for Foreign Relations and Information, a nominally independent government agency.

Today the agency is estimated to have at least 10,000 employees, with 3,000 directly attached to the agency's headquarters and the remainder spread across its regional branches. As the leading agency of Austeria's intelligence community, it is a major force in the National Security and Defence Council, which recommends the country's security and defence policy. The Sigurimi has significant influence in Austerian politics in the form of a deep state, known as the Trident.
