The Sokolpolje Stadium Conflict of 1956 is the nickname given to a disastrous friendly football match between Cordomonivence and Yugoslavia on October of 1956.The match started normally with the weather being pretty adverse, with a driving rain being all over the field making it pretty hard to control the ball.Cordomonivence took the lead of the match at the 20th minute, scoring a goal against Yugoslavia, followed by another goal at the 39th minute. This began to cause a huge outrage on the Yugoslavian football fanbase on the field but the match continued normally and on the second half,in the 66th and 71th minutes Yugoslavia scored two goals, making the ambience of the match being tense between the fanbase and teams of both countries. The tension between the fanbase rised up once again when Cordomonivence managed to do two more goals on the 88th and 93th minutes, with the Yugoslavian fanbase arguing that the referee was giving advantage and supporting the Cordobez team.

Chaos finally began after the match ended when a group of Cordobez people began to make fun and insult Yugoslavian people nearby, the Yugoslavians responded with insults and others with violence as multiple bottles were throwed against the Cordobez group. After this,a massive clash began betweel multiple groups of the Cordobez and Yugoslavian fanbase, with the streets nearby the stadium full of people screaming, insulting and fighting using differents objects such as rocks and glass bottles being the most common ones. This conflict lasted for about 30 minutes after the Yugoslavian Gendarmerie intervened, stopping both sides form hitting each other and beggining to give medical support to the Yugoslavians injured or killed. The aftermath of this conflict were around 156 dead people and 2,489 injured with most of the deaths and injured people being from the Cordobez side.Experts believe that the main reason for this conflict to have escalated so much, apart from the result of the match, is the tense geopolitical situation between Cordomonivence and Yugoslavia (which had unified with the region of Severge two years ago) caused by the Cordobez-Yugoslavian territorial dispute and the generally bad opinion that the population of each country had of the other.

The reaction of the Cordobez government

After the news of this conflict began to spread and this situation was fully known by all Cordomonivence, the Cordobez government declared this whole situation to be completely the fault of the Yugoslavia authorities, whose took multiple minutes to get to the location and whose only helped the Yugoslavian injured people, with the injured Cordobez people having to walk themselves to an hospital or being helped by Yugoslavian health services.Because of this, Cordomonivence demanded the Yugoslavian government to punish the troops of the Yugoslavian Gendarmerie that only helped the Yugoslavian people, demanding their behaviour to violate the human rights although this punishments never happened and the situation didnt escalate more.
