The Telrovan Union (TU) is an intergovernmental military alliance with a secondary focus on economic cooperation currently consisting of 8 nations across North Laurentia, Elisia, Takaria, and Antartica. The alliance was established by Locotima on March 8th 2024 and is headquartered in Heeldorado. Several nations have joined and withdrawn from the union over the years. The members of the union agree to not attack each other, and support one another if attacked, as well as maintaining certain agreements like open borders and acceptance of the Lumina as legal tender.

History

Structure

Representation and Voting

Every member nation of the Telrovan Union sends a representative to the headquarters. These representatives elect one among themselves to the role of alliance president. The president will serve as the main spokesperson for the alliance during their term and may make Vice-Presidential and Ministerial appointments. Decisions, including admission of new nations to the union, are made by a vote of the representatives which typically lasts two days, however the president has the power of veto over these votes, except for votes of no-confidence against them. Constitutional amendments must be endorsed by a minister before they can go to vote.

Ministries and Hierarchy

  • The President is in command of the alliance and the main international representative for it.
  • The Vice-President is second in command and may assist/relieve the president with their duties as needed.
  • The Minister of Defense oversees the alliances military actions and strategies, audits the military standardisation requirements for members, and acts as a point of contact for military coordination with non-union organizations.
  • The Minister of Finance oversees the budget, manages the Lumina, and recommends economic actions/strategies, such as tariffs or subsidies.
  • The Minister of the Interior is responsible for the enforcement of the union's open borders policy, and oversees infrastructure and cultural needs.
  • The Minister of Justice coordinates cooperative police efforts among member nations, as well as managing the Telrovan Union's court.

Legislation

The Telrovan Union has several pieces of binding legislation, which all members are required to follow as a condition for membership. The following is a summary of them and their main clauses.

Telrovan Union Constitution

  • No TU member may attack another member
  • If a TU member state is attacked, all other members are required to provide aid
  • All member states must have free and open borders with one another, except in times of necessity like quarantine as determined by the Minister of the Interior
  • All member states must accept the Lumina as legal tender (though are not required to adopt it as their sole currency)

TU Military Standardization Act

  • All member states must adopt the Telrovan Union Phonetic Alphabet (TUPA) for military communication
  • All member militaries must use the Telrovan Union Standard Rank System (TUSRS)
  • All member states' military vehicles must conform to the Telrovan Union Standard Vehicle System (TUSVS)
  • All member states' militairy firearms must conform to the Telrovan Union Standard Weapons System (TUSWS)

The act also provides that the Telrovan Union may select a standard cartridge for their firearms, which all members would be required to adopt. This is however not in effect as a selection was never agreed upon or finalised.

TU Environmental Act

This act commits all TU members to cutting all carbon emissions by 20% by 2035 and 50% by 2050.
