Terranihil, (Terranilian: Teraníl), officially the Republic of Terranihil (Terranilian: Freinnortán er Teraníl), is a country on the Northern Landmass of Terraconserva, bordering Greater Sacramento to the north and Malgax to the south. Occupying 740,900 square miles (1,941,000 sq km), it is a dry and mountainous nation with plains near the coasts. Guršaun is the capital and largest city. The population is near 54 million, composed almost entirely of ethnic Terranilians, except for a small Sacramatian minority. The country is mostly irrelegious but has a significant Muslim population.

Terranihil is a unitary republic consisting of 15 governorates and is the only government that practices Virátism, based on the ideology of Žep Virát, the first chairman of the National Party for Progress (NPP). The NPP is the only legal party, exercizing complete control over the government. The party espouses ethnic Terranilian nationalism and strict atheism.

The eastern shore of Terranihil was once part of the Ayreoshubic Kingdom, which collapsed about 6000 years ago. The collapse caused several tribes to migrate west into unsettled lands who then established small city-states. The city-states remained divided despite sharing a common language (Old Terranilian), culture and Terranilian Paganism, until the spread of Christianity. The Christian Kingdom of Ter was founded in 588 when many eastern tribes united because of their new faith. Then in 712, an Emirate was established after the spread of Islam. Pagans still outnumbered Christians and Muslims, and in 725, many pagan tribes united into a new Kingdom. These three countries were at constant hostility, with none of them achieving significant gains against the others until the rise of Emir Čor who led the Terranilian Emirate in conquering Ter and the Pagan Kingdom in ...

Guršaun, a major city in the Kingdom, was captured by the Vezhil Family soon after the collapse, establishing a city-state. Many Ayreoshubic tribes migrated west, deeper into the harsh mountain ranges. Because of limited precipitation in Terranihil, the tribes settled near basins that would fill with melted snow from the nearby mountains.
