The Eastern Federation (Federation of Vostochnyye Ravniny)
A Short Summary of the Federation
The Federation of Vostochnyye Ravniny or commonly knowned as The Eastern Federation is a Nation in the Kagu Continent inhabited by 265 Milions Souls. Due to her size, The Federation is composed of a plurality of regional entities: every one having a certain degree of autonomy from the Federal Governement.
A Category of those regional political entities are the Constituent National Republic's or CNR for short. Each CNR has their own president and governement. The Most Notorious CNR's are: The CNR of Maczrakia-Kuba ; The CNR of Maczrovkia-Don ; The CNR of Czechinyya ; The CNR of the Eastern-Territories and the CNR of Komicza. Be aware that due to their sizes, different cities might gain the status of a CNR like the City of Moczova (CNR of Moczova) and the city of St.Alkrionsburg (CNR of St.Alkrionsburg).
Since the end of the Cold War and the rapid collapse of the Union of Soviet Socialists Republics of Kuga (USSRK) in the 1990's, the Federation is re-emerging on the international scene thanks to the Iron Fist of Premier Dimitri Vladimirovitch Kerensky whom was elected into office in 2000.
But since the years 2010's, the Regime of Kerensky is more and more contested by the Population. The Contestation does not come from the slow transition from a once Liberal Democracy to a Authoritarian one, but because of the 2008 Economic recession which deeply affected the Vostochnyye society.
The year 2008: The Consolidation of Kerensky and Major Social-Economics Change
After the Dissolution of the USSRK in 1989, the Shock Therapy, a policy with the goal of transitioning from a Planified Economy to a Market Economy, was introduced by the first democraticaly elected Premier of the Federation: Boris Nikolay Yveletsine. The Transition went wrong: a Famine was caused, unemployement sky-rocketed with the dissolution of state entrepises . The Transition killed Millions, estimates says that up to 20 Milion citizens died. The Transition also saw the rise of 'Oligarchs', those Oligarchs amased a huge wealth and exploited the growing midle class. To further grow their wealth they created the 'Federal Stock Market', a entity that acted like a regular stock market but was in fact controlled by the Oligarchs: even the federal regulation agencies were in their pocket.
But with no state regulations and with corrupt officials, the entreprises that speculated on the market bonds lost trust in the market and started withdrawing from the Stock Market. Milions of citizens lost their savings as they invested in Banks such as The Federal Trust Fund, banks that promised them a anual revenue of 5% of their savings account if they agreed to the 'Bondisation' of their Property and their Money.
Thousands lost their savings and houses, banks closed in droves. Misery was growing: it was the 90's all again. Public discontent accused the Oligarchs of their misery and of the national economic downturn. Kerensky, whom was elected in 2000 but was unpopular at the time for the 2001 Invasion of the Secesionist Korvath Oblast, was also accused. But Kerensky saw a oportunity to reform the Country as he wished.
Kerenski first evicted all the Oligarchs, many were: assasinated, humiliated, lost in the prison system... or the three at the same time. Many Entreprises hold by the Oligarchs were nationalised, notably in the Militaro-Industrial sector. Kerenski used the Market crash to modify the constitution in 2009: the constitution saw the introduction of clearly Czarist Time values, the notion of god was defined in the constitution and Eastern Christianity was virtualy implemented as State Religion. The 2009 Constitutional Ammendement reduced the Autonomy of the regional entities and reinforced the federal administration authority.
Whilst Kerensky reinforced his power, the 2008 Crisis also brought back on the scene several political movements... like communist ones.
