Valeria Martínez (born 5 May 1955) is a Knichan–Gylian actress and voice actress. She has starred in numerous Knichan and Tyranian productions, with her most famous role being Miss Mystery in The Magnificent Mademoiselles.

Early life

Valeria Martínez was born on 5 May 1955 in Nycero. She is part of the renowed Martínez showbiz family: her father was a singer, and was the third of eight siblings, 5 of whom are also actors and another being a composer.

She attended drama school in Nycero, studying ballet, dance, and the dramatic arts. After graduation, she performed in a circus and worked as a dance teacher.

Career

She made her film debut in 1975.

She moved to Gylias in 1990, both to advance her career and to escape the Años Duros at home. She later obtained Gylian citizenship.

Having mainly starred in drama films before, her Gylian career changed its focus towards comedies.

Her breakthrough role proved to be voicing Miss Mystery in The Magnificent Mademoiselles, which aired from 1994 to 1997. Valeria's "impish, streetwise" performance as Miss Mystery proved an ideal foil for her co-star Teresa Ganzel as Miss Vavoom. The role allowed her to display her talents as a voice actor, comedian, and singer as well, as she and Teresa sang the theme song as their characters.

The role helped establish her as a major Gylian voice actor, and also won her fame abroad. She observed that when meeting with fans, the great majority brought pictures of Miss Mystery to ask her to sign.

She credited The Magnificent Mademoiselles with helping her find her niche: her subsequent roles focused on the archetype of the boisterous, larger-than-life grande dame, in the vein of Cécile Sorel. She expressed amusement that she received more sexually-charged roles as she aged, compared to her youth.

Private life

Valeria is married and has 6 children, who similarly followed her into entertainment careers.
