The Verdeckte Reichspolizei (Reynish: "Covert Reich Police"), abbreviated Verpo is the official secret state police of Altenland. The force was created by decree of Martin Winter in 1932, and assembled by Ludwig Rahmer by combining the various political police agencies of Almeria into one. Instead of being exclusively an Almerian state agency, the Verpo quickly developed into a national one as a sub-office of the SST's Reichspolizei ("Reich Police").
