History

Pre-WWIII Vietnam

In 2034 the Hanoi Spring took place. Communists were overthrown and Vietnam became a democracy. Democratic Vietnam had its capital moved to Saigon in 2036. In 2043 Vietnam became a developed nation. However since Hanoi Spring leaders were strongly anti-WMD, democratic Vietnam never aquired any nuclear weapons or any other WMDs.

WWIII Chaos in Vietnam

During WWIII Vietnam remained neutral. However some ethnobioweapons targeting ethnic Chinese affected Vietnamese. Vietnam lost 64% of its population during three days. President Luong Huy Anh and most members of his government passed away during the attacks. However Vu An Nam, the Minister of Transportation, the Minister of Transportation, remained alive. Nam then assumed presidency.

Nam's government then fought a short civil war against 3 rival governments and took all of Vietnam by Dec 2nd, 2061.

During and after the civil war Nam realized that China, Japan, Taiwan and many other nations had been depopulated and that a small group of local Vietnamese expats were among the few survivors. Moreover India became the sole remaining power that had WMDs. In order to prevent India from dominating the entire world President Vu began to aggressively obtain tech and WMDs from depopulated nations and sent Vietnamese troops to defend areas with a large Vietnamese diaspora such as United States and France.

President Vu started two campaigns, the Operation Hai Ba Trung' 61 to secure depopulated East Asia and obtain WMDs there and the Operation Hai Ngoai' 61 to protect Vietnamese diaspora in Europe, North America and Oceania.

The former ended as an almost complete success as Vietnam rapidly secured Japan, both Koreas, Taiwan and advanced deep into China. Vietnamese troops found that Russia and East Turkestan were also depopulated but Tibet still had a few people left. Vietnamese troops reached the old China-Tibet and East Turkestan-Tibet borders with no opposition. They then rapidly advanced into Europe and the Middle East. There was almost no opposition before reaching the German, French, Swedish, Norwegian or Italian border where black militias and gangs were found.

However Vietnamese troops were seriously outstretched.

In Mar 2061 a massacre of Vietnamese took place in Cambodia.
