Weights and measures in Themiclesia are a system of standard units quantifying the metrics of length, mass, and volume; other units can be derived from any one of these systems. Themiclesian law accepts the Metric system in its entirety, though a domestic system with a historical origin common with that in Menghe is also in use. The latter system is prevalent over the Metric system in certain contexts, such as the measure of cloth, alcohol, precious metals, cooking ingredients, grains, and medicinal herbs. Most definitions are found within Chapter XXX of the Administrative Code.

Length

The Themiclesian system for calculating length is for the most part decimal. The basic unit is a ts'jak or Themiclesian foot, measuring 24.5 mm; this length is derived from the wavelength of a 1,400 Hz sine wave travelling through air at sea level atmospheric pressure.

Unit Rom'n SI equiv. Relationship Common name
len' 24.5 m 100 ts'jak
drjang 2.45 m 10 ts'jak
ts'jak 0.245 m basic unit Themiclesian foot
ts'uns 0.0245 m 110 ts'jak
pjen 0.00245 m 1100 ts'jak
Non-decimal units
bah 1.47 m 6 ts'jak
re' 441 m 300 bah Themiclesian mile

The unit bah is used to calculate distance, particularly land size; drjang is more common for other uses. lo' is used primarily to calculate land distance.

pjang 372.2 l 16 ghok

Mass

Mass units are not as decimal as the others. The prevailing view is that the system developed as a combination of several systems.
