Weissmark is a semi-constitutional monarchy. The bicameral National Diet is made up of the Chamber of Councilors and the Assembly of the People's Representatives. The former is made up of 50 councilors, of which 35 are elected by the Assembly and 15 appointed by the Grand Duke. The Assembly is made up of 112 representatives elected in direct elections on the basis of proportional representation. These elections are held every three years, or sooner in the event that National Diet is dissolved.
The Grand Duke (currently Edward II) is the head of state. The Grand Duke has the authority to declare war and peace, appoint and dismiss the Minister President, call elections, and dissolve the National Diet.
