The Liberal Democratic Party
The Liberal Democratic Party (LDP) is a Liberal political party in the Northeast American States. Formed in mid 2004 they have been a major political party in both national and state legislatures. The LDP currently holds the highest number of seats in the House of Representatives with 44 seats and the President of the NAS, Matthew Yates, is a member of the party.
The party's platform has traditionally been progressive with a mix of neoliberal policy here and there. President Matthew Yates' 2005 budget was widely praised by left wing parties including the RPA and SDU for being very progressive, including additional funding for education and social programs while cutting back on the military budget.
Foundation
The Liberal Democrats originated as a group of Liberal politicians in the state assembly of Maryland during the 2004 Constitutional Convention. After the Constitution was ratified, the Liberal Democratic Party was officially founded on June 16th, 2004, by Mary Stein and Matthew Yates.

Voter Base
The Liberal Democratic Party is favored with Women and the LGBTQ Community in the Women for the Liberal Democrats and LGBTQ for Liberals respectively. Due to their active social policies supporting both groups they are the strongest party within those demographics. The Liberal Democrats also enjoy a strong youth wing, with College Liberals of America.
Party Events
On April 4th, 2005, multiple Liberal Democratic Party officials, including the House Leader Jeremy Davies and Secretary of the Treasury Kevin Lois, were found to have dual citizenship in countries like Canada, the CSA and the UK via an expose from a rogue Dept. of Immigration official. President Yates and party Chairwoman Daniella DiBlasio agreed to encourage all of the officials who were accused to resign under the possibility of being ousted from the party. Every official either resigned or moved to the New Liberal Party, 3 Congressmen moved to the NLP.
On April 15th the SDU and NLP launched a House Ethics investigation into the Liberal Party’s actions regarding forcing officials to resign and whether or not any officials had ethics violations while holding dual citizenship. The investigation did not find any members to have ethics violations and found that President Yates and Party Chairwoman DiBlasio gave members an ultimatum in leaving the party or resigning.
All Congressmen who resigned, totaling 4, were elected by Party-List, so their replacements were simply appointed by the Liberal Democratic Party.
