The Chŏnsŏ G586 is a Menghean 4×4 utility lorry produced by the Chŏnsŏ Motor Corporation. It is derived from the Ch58, a lorry which Chŏnsŏ developed for the civilian market. With a 2.5-ton cargo capacity and a 3.5-ton curb weight, it is relatively lightweight, but still has reasonably good offroad capability.
History
The Chŏnsŏ G586 was ordered as a replacement for the Chŏnsŏ G445, an engine-forward light utility truck used by the Democratic People's Republic of Menghe.
Variants
Standard variants
- G586: Baseline military version with 2-seat cab.
- G5860: Baseline variant with cab and frame only, for custom modification.
- G5861: Variant with cargo bed. The bed can comfortably seat 10 fully-equipped soldiers and their gear, or up to 20 passengers without gear. It can be covered by a sheet of canvas on three metal ribs.
- G5862: Variant with mounting points for a special-role module.
- G5863: Variant with a 2,000-liter tank for transporting water, oil, fuel, or lubricants.
- G587: Airborne variant. The cab is open-topped to reduce stored height, and can be covered by a canvas-and-metal frame.
- G584: Variant with an extended cab containing three additional passenger seats. Mainly used by mortar crews.
