The Social Democratic Party (Swedish: Socialdemokratiska; Hverlandic: Jafnaðarmenn) is a left-wing political party in Hverland that has been described as an alliance of democratic socialists and opponents of Hverland's current neoliberal economic system. The party platform emphasizes greater state intervention, social justice, strengthening workers' rights, and, unlike most other political parties in Hverland, supports the formal separation of church and state. Since the 1990's the ideals of diversity and social justice have also taken a prominent role. Support for the Social Democrats has plummeted both due to their role in briefly legalizing abortion and the apparent success of the free market in increasing living standards across Hverland. They have no seats in the Rokthing, losing their representation entirely in 2014. Much of their former support has migrated to either the Liberals or Green-Left.
