English: This coat of arms is a redesign of the sign used by the Gendarmerie Nationale. It is not officially used by the Région Rhône-Alpes.
Français : Ce blason reproduit l'insigne de la Région Rhône-Alpes utilisé par la Gendarmerie Nationale. Il n'est pas à ce jour le blason officiel de la Région Rhône-Alpes. Sa description héraldique est: "Parti d'or à un dauphin d'azur barbé, oreillé et peautré de gueules et de gueules au lion d'argent; au chef cousu d'azur chargé de cinq fleurs de lis d'or; chargé en pointe d'écusson de gueules à une croix d'argent".
