El escudo municipal de Tenabo es una adaptación de un glifo maya (escudo maya) que muestra a dos dioses Yum Kaax (dios del maíz y la agricultura) dándose la espalda. Como es típico en la representación maya, cada figura sostiene en sus manos una canasta con mazorcas tiernas. Las dos figuras están coloreadas en verde y están sobre un color rojizo.1
