Deutsch: John Mercer Langston (* 14. Dezember 1829 in Louisa County, Virginia, USA; † 15. November 1897 in Washington D.C.) war ein schwarzer Anwalt und Politiker. Er war neben Frederick Douglass einer der bekanntesten und einflussreichsten Bürgerrechtler des 19. Jahrhunderts. Er war der erste Afroamerikaner, welcher in Virginia ins Repräsentantenhaus gewählt wurde.
English: John Mercer Langston ( December 14 1829November 15 1897) was an American abolitionist and U.S. Congressman from Virginia. He was the first black man in the United States to be elected to public office when in 1855 he was elected as a town clerk in Ohio.
