Summary

Description

Contemporary Biographies, by W.T. Pike, including "Cheshire at the opening of the Twentieth Century". (Pike's New Century Series no.11). Published in 1904 by W.T. Pike & Co., 19 Grand Parade, Brighton. The volumes in this series each contain an illustrated section about the county, followed by a long list of short biographies (each with a photographic portrait) of men of the county who were alive in 1904 (plus a few who had recently died). Each volume has an index to the illustrations of buildings and views of Cheshire, and an index to the biographies.

Showing photographic portrait of John Thomas Ashton (1859–1910), architect. Page 300. (Note: there is an error in his Pike biography: his birth was registered in 1859 at Altrincham registration area, which at that time included Ashton-on-Mersey).
