(May 26, 2014)
Rhode Island Gov. Lincoln Chafee, Army Maj. Gen. Kevin McBride, Adjutant General of Rhode Island and Commanding General of the Rhode Island National Guard, Rear Adm. Walter E. “Ted” Carter Jr., president, U.S. Naval War College in Newport, Rhode Island, and retired Army Brig. Gen. Rick Braccus, participate in the 40th Annual Memorial Day Ceremony at Rhode Island Veterans Memorial Cemetery in Exeter, Rhode Island. This year, Carter joined with representatives from the State of Rhode Island, distinguished guests and more than 700 local attendees, to serve as Presiding Officer for the ceremony. The event served as an opportunity to commemorate the more than 1.3 million men and women who have died in military service since 1775, and honor the millions of veterans who have served our nation.
