Summary

English: Photo of a mural at the Tetitla compound showing what has been identified as the Great Goddess of Teotihuacan. She can be recognized by the weave of her clothing. Because she is a god, she is always shown from the front. Her body is disassembled (abstracted) which is commonly seen with the Great Goddess. She is wearing a green stone mask and jewelry ear spools. Her shawl shows that she is a woman; she serves as a metaphor for the city. Images on the sides coming from her hands/arms symbolize abundance and prosperity.
