Krestoffer Seger Esterson (Hellonian and Ellandic: ᚴᚱᛂᛋᛐᛟᚠᚠᛂᚱ : ᛂᛋᛐᛂᚱᛋᛟᚿ; née ᚴᚱᛂᛋᛐᛟᚠᚠᛂᚱ : ᛚᛁᚢᛝᛒᛟᚱᚵ : ᚿᛁᚴᚴᛟᛚᛋᛟᚿKrestoffer Ljungborg Nikkolson), of the House of Hellona (born 18 April 1928) is the current king of Hellona and the Realm. His biological parents are Prince Nicholas-Alexander and Princess Gertruda, but he was adopted by Queen Estelle and Queen consort Ingrid because of their lesbian relationship, and as such the inability to produce a biological heir. The loose laws of succession of Hellona made it possible for this to happen.

Appearance, character and interests

Krestoffer is a thin tall man, with a rather lean body. Krestoffer is a gentle man, who talks rather softly and always tries to stay reserved. At times this has lead him to cover up his feelings, which sometimes end in bursts of anger or sadness. He's an introverted person who likes to do his own things, and doesn't enjoy royal parties quite as much as his mother Estelle did. His quiet and reserved nature come from both his mothers, as both were very calm. This often gets in the way of his duty, as he needs to visit many parties, festivities and meetings. His reserved and introverted nature makes him seen as quite socially awkward, though he warms up to people after a while and can become less awkward.

Like his mother, Estelle, he has taken interest in human rights, the fine arts and most importantly culture. He owns many books about the different cultures, beliefs and languages of Ullar, most of them were given to him by his mother. He continues with his mothers wish to fund cultural exchanges, the arts and festivities. Besides his native languages of Hellonian and Ellandic, he speaks Nambalonian-English, German, and Menakupan fluently and also knows some Latvian.

The official residence of the King is Owidal Palace, in the Old Town of Owidal, which houses the offices of the King, the rest of the royal family, and the royal court and is used for meetings of the privy council, and hosting state visits. The King and Queen also own the Gammalt slott in Elland.

As most Hellonians, he is an Asatru believer and as head of Hellona, also acts as the Exalt (religious leader of Asatru). Krestoffer knows a lot of the stories of the Edda, and is sometimes seen as a rather devout believer, though he beliefs religion shouldn't be the most important thing in life, and he has said on many occasions that he is just intrigued by the legends and myths, and how they effected Hellonian culture.

Unlike most male monarchs, he has never been part of any military branch, and does not wish to be. He finds defense important, but would rather see man who is actually proud to serve his country than a man who would only do it for monarchical traditions. As such, he holds no military titles or ranks, as the monarch holds no military titles or ranks automatically.

He also does model work for some fashion magazines, and sometimes writes articles in them about the latest Hellonian fashion trends. He was voted the most beautiful Hellonian man in 1950. He also wrote five books: Asatru Mythology, the pantheon and origin stories, Hellona in the Vismar, Land of the Free, a study on Libertanian culture, Keriech, the Menakupan Wars and the best-seller Collection of Norsundish myths. He's also an artist, producing many drawings and paintings

Biography

Early life

Krestoffer Seger Esterson, born Krestoffer Ljunborg Nikkolson, was born at the Prince's Estate, Elland on 18 April, 1928. He was the first and only child of Prince Nicholas-Alexander and his wife Gertruda Ljunborg. At the time of his birth, he was the second in line to the throne, behind only his father, Prince Nicholas-Alexander, brother of then-queen Estelle.

One year after his birth, Estelle revealed herself to be lesbian, and as such couldn't produce an heir. A heated discussion started about Hellonian succession laws, which were often stated to be vague and unclear. It was further complicated by the fact that the brother of Estelle refused to ever take the throne. It was later decided, with private talks between the queen and her brother, that she and her wife would adopt the first born child of Nicholas-Alexander, and raise it as her own. On the 15th of December, 1929, Krestoffer became the child of Estelle and was afforded the title of Crown Prince. On the 16th of December, he was presented to the gods during the Royal Ceremony, as is usual for any heir to the throne.

He was sent to the esteemed BS Hertendam when he was 6. He followed secondary education at Hemelsdal Middelbare School and higher education at Owidal University, as per usual with Hellonian royals enjoying normal education. He afterwards followed further royal education for taking over the role of monarch. Teachers always said he was a reserved child sitting in corners, but having two really good friends, whose names haven't been told for privacy reasons. He had good grades, especially in history, geography and German classes.

Krestoffer later commented this on his school days:
I wasn't really a special kid in my class, I had good grades and I could draw nicely, so those were the things I were known for. Only kids from other classes would really know me as "the prince". The only thing I really had trouble with in my youth, was arranging visits to friends, or parties at my place. We could do them, but we needed to go through a lot of trouble for it. Otherwise, I was just the quiet nice kid, friend of everyone, no one's enemy.

Move to Elland

Krestoffer moved to Elland after finishing his public and royal education at age 26. He stayed in the Endelborg Castle and lived a reserved life, walking through the mountains and going to Rökavik many times. He wasn't seen as an extraordinary person by the peoples, which he found really nice and comforting. During this period, He taught Hellonian at Bergdal Basischool and he funded many cultural projects.

He was said to study a lot in local libraries or museums, often staying for half of the day. It is told he made notes and drawings of things he saw, which he kept in three big bookcases, stored in perfect alphabetical order. The notes were also used for the books he published during this time, all about Vismar or Norsundish culture, including: Asatru Mythology, the pantheon and origin stories, Hellona in the Vismar, and the best-seller Collection of Norsundish myths. He later told he wasn't a good writer and that his books were more intended as collections of the cultures themselves than an actual literary book. Most critics still praised the books as they stayed close to their sources, and didn't include a lot of guesswork. In 1946, he also began part-time teaching at the University of Rökavik in the subjects History and Vismar Culture.

In 1948, he and his mother privately talked about her planned abdication, as even though she ruled for a very short term, she thought it was time for the newer generation. After the talks, he moved back to Owidal and stayed in Groenslot, a small castle just outside the city. After his mother has publicly revealed her abdication, he moved into the Royal Palace.

Reign

The official programme for the abdication and investiture took place on 7 October 1953. The Queen signed the Instrument of Abdication at the Royal Palace, Owidal. An hour after signing the abdication, Krestoffer was crowned King and exalt. The procedure took place in the Wodaner Temple in Owidal, around 12:00 a.m.

When asked about his plans, he said the following:
"I cannot and mustn't tell what the future holds at this time. As we have seen repeatedly, the world changes faster than we could ever guess. Just a mere forty years ago we were a part of a union that brought the Vismar together, now we're alone again. We had bad relations with Libertanium just a few years ago, and now they're one of our biggest trade partners. So I must stress again, I cannot tell. We must ourselves see what the future brings forth when it actually comes. And by this I do not mean we won't do anything until something happens, but we can't predict the unpredictable"

He regularly visits Owidal's streets, or small towns anywhere in Hellona, as he says he trusts the people enough to be able to walk among them. He likes to see the regular life of people, even as monarch, compared to his mother, who mostly stayed in the royal palaces.

He proposed the reformation of the Vismar Union, as a neutral power between the two ideological superpowers, the capitalists under Libertanium Regionem and Assedam and the socialists under Dutch Polynesia, West Kirkon and Latvian Spartopia. He was at odds with Nambalonia's leader on how much power he could have, and the fact he went to meetings was seen as being a political leader, while the Hellonian state didn't see it as such, as he makes no real decisions with consequences, as all of his comments would be reviewed by the Rijksdag later.

He was later chosen as the Hellonian representative in the Vismar Union and later Commonwealth, together with South German Lucanus Bergfalk and Nambalonian Samuel Bell.

Engagement

In January 1957, he revealed he was in love with the Norsundish Elana Niutuuk. They were revealed to have been dating for the past two years, and that they were planning on getting engaged. A few weeks after the reveal, some of their private letters went out in public.

"My dearest, Elana, Madame, it may have been a long time since we've met, but I have not forgotten thee, my dear Niutuuk. I would wish for this love to be expressed in actions, rather than words, but I hope my language will warm thee as much as my love in person. I do acknowledge that my task as monarch of our eternal realm may be tiring for a blooming lover, but I hope that we can meet more often than we have until this winter"

— Krestoffer of Hellona to Elana Niutuuk

Krestoffer and Elana went to Spitsbergen for a couple of days after the letters were released. Krestoffer wasn't too bothered by the publishing of the letters, Niutuuk was more negative. After the trip, they returned to Norsund, at the Moskholm airport, Elena proposed to Krestoffer. The publishing of the letters was largely discarded after this.
