Recent cases

In late 2021, the City Ombudsman’s office received multiple complaints from residents of the Friðhöll neighborhood in Hverhöfn. The grievances centered around a public works project intended to upgrade the district's aging water infrastructure. Residents reported frequent water outages, poor communication from the city, and prolonged construction timelines that significantly exceeded initial estimates. The Ombudsman’s report highlighted these findings and criticized the Public Works Department for insufficient oversight. Recommendations were made for implementing stronger project management protocols, establishing clear lines of communication with the community, and enforcing more stringent contractual accountability measures.
