The United Congress Monitoring Authority for Ruthen (UCMAR) is a multinational peacekeeping force established by the United Congress to support the Republic of Ruthen and fight the People's Republic of Ruthen during the Six-Day War from 22 to 26 July 1999, and to prevent a recurrence of hostilities following the 26 July armistice.
Two days after the beginning of the invasion of East Ruthen, the United Congress Security Council adopted Resolution 1233 and authorized the assembly of a military force of some 12 volunteering UC member states to liberate territories occupied by West Ruthen or force a withdrawal of its forces by 27 July. While Waldrich and the Nordbund members provided the bulk of military personnel and funding, all participants formally fought under the "auspices of the UC" and operated under a combined command structure aimed at collective security.
The commencement of combat operations began with a coordinated campaign of aerial bombardment on 22 July, codenamed Operation Sound Justice. By 24 July, an expeditionary ground force amassed near Staßfurt and began a large-scale offensive to aid the East Ruthish forces in stalling the West Ruthish advance. Engagements with the latter occured at X and X. On 26 July, the parties signed the Ruthish Armistice Agreement and ended open hostilities; as a result, the United Congress extended and expanded the mission to prevent a resumption of war and maintain the status quo. UCMAR was subsequently redeployed to patrol and protect the newly established Ruthish Demilitarized Zone (DMZ), which it continues to do in the present day.
Since 2000, UCMAR's and the UC Special Representative for Ruthen's primary duty is to facilitate diplomacy between East and West Ruthen and seek an amicable solution to the division of Ruthen following a number of UC Resolutions of re-organization and re-committment. Currently, UCMAR comprises contingents from Dahemia, Falland, the Free States, Waldrich, and X, and as of 2021, the mission has a strength of 7,602.
