The 103rd National Azurnailian Elections (Or referred to as the Azurnailian 2024 Elections) was an election held in April 9th to July 17th the race was between incumbent president Kawa Imashu II, Independence candidate Ishikawa Kyumi, and NAWP canidate Shu Akuruki. The result was a victory for Ishikawa Kyumi and the independence party, winning their first federal elections in the history of the IDP. It also marks the first time that the Azur party has lost the Federal elections since 1892, and the first time that a non Azur party candidate was president since 2016.
Issues of the day
The Final Trial against Perishna
In the mist of the elections, Perishna attacked the economic and military hub of Rodonitsu, destroying it and prompting the president at the time Kawa Imashu II to declare war on Perishna, this lead to a national crisis.
The populace was in disarray in how an attack was able to pierce the Iron Wall, and started the Panic of 2024.
The Recent Military spending
Before the Great Trials, the Azur Party increased the military budget by over 90% this lead to many civilians concerned about the future, as this may lead to another military coup. The last time said coup occured, the Military Junta almost executed 10% of the population of 1840 Azurnailia.
The attack and destruction of Rodonistu
As stated above, Rodonitsu was hit by a kinetic weapon which submerged the city except for the Suburbs of Chiku, which overlooked Rodonitsu on a hill. This lead to the economy being reduced by over 3%, Rodonitsu was also home to a Raiden Uranium Factory, which spilled about 500 Gallons of Radioactive waste into the Obekyumi sound, which would lead to a national crisis
The Terrorist bombing of the Capitol
Also related to the Final Trial, members of the PMIS almost was able to assasinate Kawa Imashu II in the capitol, thankfully the intelligence corps evacuated him to the underground bunker in Kyuto. After a small fight, the capitol was on fire and ablaze, this risked the Urban area of Tokyahama to also be set on fire. Thankfuly the fire would be put out, however economic repirations and the repair of the capitol could take well over 3 months.
The Refined Communist party
Something that the Azurnailian populace hates the most is communism, and despite attempts to prevent such party forming in the nation, a Communist sympathizer who supports the countries of Zatlousken and Brittania, Kaitsu Izeki, founded the Refined Communist Party, which added onto the panic of 2024, believing that the reason why this occurred was because of the capitalist cause.
