The State of Gasaria was a federal state of the Federate Union from 1855 to 1969.
The entity's institutions originated from the Provisional State of Gasaria, a proto-state formed by Federate movement forces in 1838. It fought an insurgency against the monarchial government, before a full-scale rebellion and war erupted in 1849. The provisional state dissolved the monarchy of Gasaria after its victory and accended to the Federate Union in 1855.
The state in the late pre-modern era emerged as an industrious constituent unit of the Second Federate Union. As the East-West War descended, Gasaria avoided destruction as seen in other Federate federal states and provided much of the industrial base for the war-torn federation. Sashaslav became the second-most populated city in the federation.
After the Slowdown, the state received an unprecedented amount of refugees amidst an economic crisis. The federal authorities weakened as the state assumed more responsibility for the crises. Gasarian sentiment turned against the percieved ineffective Federal government and begun the demand for Gasarian independence which was achieved during the Popular Uprisings when the state merged with the Free Gasaria Congress to form an independent constitution and form the legislature titled the State Congress.
