The Shrike combines the PLX-1's miniature mass-driver barrel system with that of a plasma engine propelled missile system. The range is therefore extended to twice that of the PLX-1's original 40km. The Shrike may be fired 'dumb'(firing the projectile straight, to hit slow or non-moving line-of-sight targets) or in it's 'smart' mode that has many optional targeting methods such as thermal, electronic, and GAM (Gravity Activated Mode).

In weapons testing it was found to be capable of incapacitating, or destroying, nearly any armored walker or tank in the Imperial or Colonial Republic of Earth's armories. However, the hit must be direct in order to be effective. Glancing hits are able to incapacitate armored or hardened targets, but complete destruction cannot be ensured.

Bastion Arms Plasma Propelled Rocket Launcher

Thrashian Imperial Army Equipment

Nicknamed "The Shrike" by the soldiers that use it, due to the sound of it's launch and travel being a high, piercing sound similar to the shriek of the infamous predatory bird, the Shrike; the Bastion Arms Plasma Propelled Rocket Launcher is the next generation in shoulder-mounted anti-vehicle weaponry. A direct descendant of the PLX-1, or PLEX, portable missile launcher that was used in the past, the Shrike has come much further.

Description

The Shrike combines the PLX-1's miniature mass-driver barrel system with that of a plasma engine propelled missile system. The range is therefore extended to twice that of the PLX-1's original 40km. The Shrike may be fired 'dumb' (firing the projectile straight, to hit slow or non-moving line-of-sight targets) or in it's 'smart' mode that has many optional targeting methods such as thermal, electronic, and GAM (Gravity Activated Mode).

Gravity Activated Mode

GAM, or Gravity Activated Mode, used sensors in the missile to actively search for specific pre-programmed target gravity silhouettes (these generally focus on the distinctive gravity waves produced by repulsorlifts, but it can be used against enemy legged or tracked vehicles as well) and attempt to home in on them. If a GAM target lock is achieved and the missile launch is initiated, the on-board guidance systems steer the missile towards its target and, with any luck, hit it, with predictable results.
